These Miles

Another day away from this fire of mine

It’s a different kind of cold than I can define

There’s somethin’ ‘bout the way you kiss my face

The hardest game of tag I’ve ever played

Is this one ‘cause we reside in different states

If only we could be in the same place

Where will our love go

If the path is any longer?

Is it meant to grow

Into something much stronger?

How are we to know

Where our love will go?

You’re good at sending shivers down my spine

Through words on the phone or when you’re by my side

You know the perfect way to hold my heart

I wish that I could see you everyday

Instead of only weekend matinees

The ache is hard to bear when we’re apart

Where will our love go

If the path is any longer?

Is it meant to grow

Into something much stronger?

How are we to know

Where our love will go?

In our circumstance,

These miles will never be our friends

I’ll fight until the end,

But these miles might turn us into friends

It’s hard enough for me to say goodbye

Even knowing that in two weeks, we’ll collide

But what if that expanded to a year?

I’m scared that it could break our hearts and bones

And mold us into humans we don’t know

I’m having trouble holding all these fears

Where will our love go

If the path is any longer?

Is it meant to grow

Into something much stronger?

How are we to know

Where our love will go?

In our circumstance,

These miles will never be our friends

I’ll fight until the end,

But these miles might turn us into friends

In our circumstance,

These miles will never be our friends

I’ll fight until the end,

But these miles just turned us into friends
